Ok thanks Bajal, that one does it but not interactively. At least we can do it procedurally if needed, good to know.

Hi,
Is there a way to have a soft radius when moving faces? I can only get it when moving points or edges, with primitive the soft setting become greyed out. And i found no info about it in the doc or any tutorial or even on any forum.

I think your best bet would be media@sidefx.com, but either what Michael said or that, will send you in the right direction.
As a side note - I'm just trying to be useful, not presumptuous - have you considered the financial ramifications? Last time I've checked, a few yrs ago, they take more than half of your income (60%?) until you'll “upgrade” to a 40-50% (don't remember which) based on your sales volume. And then, there's an exclusivity clause, which will preclude you from selling anywhere else and will have an influence on your bottom line one way or another.
I have been selling on Turbosquid since many years (3ds Max scenes so far) and I think it's a good deal that I get with them. They do a wonderful job at support and promoting my models and they are the top market place for 3D models. I tried to list on a different market place for a while (the second one in size at the time I think) and I didn't get a single sale after a year on that other one… Si I went back on the Turbosquid guild where i always get regular sales.
I am already diamond so I get 60% and they keep 40%. If I sell from links on my own webpage, I get 80%. So if someone thinks he ca make a better job at promoting his models but still want to use the Turbosquid infrastructure, you can keep 80% which I think is fair.

Hi all!
Let's say I would like to sell Houdini rigged models with some animation and fur on Turbosquid and I have only the Indie License.
Would that mean that only indie license users would be able to use my assets?
Is there any way to sell models for both Indie and Full license users?

Hi very interesting thread. I'm a freelancer with a 13 slaves render farm now still using max+V-Ray and hoping to switch to Houdini + ?. Maybe when v-ray4houdini will be ready I will use it. But I look at what places like Main Road Post [www.mrpost.ru] do with Mantra and I'm really eager to learn Mantra too even though my first test with it were noisy slow and discouraging. I'm happy to read some posts here explaining how it can still be a very useful renderer and we can also couple it with redshift for some jobs were speed is the most important factor.

Will we see something like this coming to Houdini soon? Or can it be done already?

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Orbolt and Apprentice authoring --selling?

Hi,
Just to be sure does this apllies only to Orbolt? If I would like to sell assets on Turbosquid, is it allowed to author them with apprentice or indie. And would the scenes be usable by all potetial buyers using Houdini?
I see that on Turbosquid and Orbolt there are almost no 3D models for sale in houdini format. I would like to author content such a fully rigged (and furred) characters in Houdini and try to sell them to change that but how does it work with all the diffferent licenses? I think the best would be to allow market places like Turbosquid to convert the files to make them usable by all houdini users. now that H16 has more tools for creating and animating character, that would be a wise move.

Houdini Learning Materials » Kai Stavginski shading tutorial BSDF vis node

Hi,
I really enjoyed Kai Stavginski tutorial on shading in H15 and I would really like to take a look at his BSDF vis node that he is demonstrating to help understand the light behaviour when reacting on a surface with different BSDF.
Anyone knows if this is available somewhere or can SideFX provide it?
See here at 48:00 and 54:00

Finally I got the solution by myself.
In my preferences I had to go in Miscelaneous and unckeck the “Use External Help Server” option.
now i can see the example files.
I saw this note on SESI website http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1085&Itemid=281/ [sidefx.com]

I contacted sideFX support about that and they told me to downlad the latest daylie version (I previously installed the latest “production” version). So I installed version 15.0.424 and still there is nothing in the example nodes section.
I also submitted it here: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?Itemid=239&id=768&option=com_content&task=view [sidefx.com]

Yes I was aware we can't load them from an external browser. I was trying from inside houdini and it didn't work. So I will try installing a newer build. Thanks.

H all,
When I go there:
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini15.0/examples/_index [sidefx.com]
I see a list of categories for houdini example nodes but when I click on them they all lead to empty pages except for the python panel examples but these ones all lead to a page with 2 buttons: load andd launch and they don't seem to work for me.
Is there supposed to be any existing examples for houdini 15?
I tried to see in the houdini 14 help, but in that one I see the examples but I can't load them neither.
Can anyone load the examples files in H15?

Yes it's precompiled, the binaries are the precompiled versions. You can download them via dropbox on this link:

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Upresing a Pyro Sim in Houdini 14?

I would say computers will never be fast enough to do high quality sims. Before we were working at 640x480 resolution, then 1920x1080 now more and more 4K and then 360 VR at 12 288 x 6 144 and in the future probably hi-rez VR in stereo so 2 times 400 000 x 20 000! who knows…
We will always need uprez or anything that could accelerate the process.
But I don't know pyro yet, I'm learning it like you but I can tell you I will look at uprez for sure.
